What is Milk Paint?

Milk Paint is a powdered paint that has been around for thousands of years. It was found in the pyramids in Egypt and has been used in America for years on furniture, walls, barns, etc. It is a versatile paint that can be used to achieve a variety of looks from chippy and distressed to smooth and sleek.

The new MilkPaint™ formula is made from four 100% natural ingredients that you can actually pronounce - casein (milk protein), lime (calcium hydroxide), natural pigments, and plant-based filler.

The Miss Mustard Seed's Paint line currently offers 29 colors and 3 color collections. The colors shown here are intended for digital purposes and are a close, but not an exact match. Colors may appear different on different screen types.

I love painting with MMSMP because of the old worn and chippy look I can get with it (MilkGrip can be added if you don't want the chippy look). It sands easily and you can get a very smooth finish, you will need to apply a topcoat. MilkPaint comes in tester size bags, 1 pint and 1 quart and is a dry powder that you mix with equal parts of water (ex: 1 cup paint powder with 1 cup water).
